after a year of reading all of your experiences and expressions i decided it was time for me to start sharing some of mine.
hopefully they can benefit others, like many of yours have benefited me!
being raised in the wtbts, the jehovahs witness docrine and culture really was the prism from which all of my experiences and understanding of life originated.
welcome! Love your smurf... fortunately i wasn't in the truth until i was a teenager... so i could watch smurfs, but i hate to tell you guys, smurfs sucked! I mean, i think you all wanted it because it was restricted, i didn't even like cabbage patch dolls just cuz they were freakin ugly!
Maybe i was just "warming up' to become a witness!!! (EWE!!)...

i've got two boxes full of watchtower and awake magazines dating back to 2000 maybe abit further.
should i just trash them?
if i recycled them i would be afraid that I might accidentally get someone interested in them.. i think a shreadder or a wood-chipper would be best.
i've just had some shelving put up by my mother's husband...and she is coming round to look at my library.. she is jw..... what will she think of the books i have on there?.
would you let a jw relative see your library?.

we got into another "discussion" about the validity of the wts and whether or not they teach the truth....i expected that, so it wasn't a big deal.
what i didn't expect is the interesting turn that the conversation took.
we actually discussed getting a divorce.

I'm so sad to hear that. When my husband left the 'truth' and i was still in, we were ABSOLUTELY getting divorced... and you could say that we had other issues than the religion...definately every marriage has issues, but let me tell you, someone being in, and the other knowing it's a cult... i dont see how that can work. I can see how if you're just 'unbelieving" but to KNOW your spouse is in a MIND CONTROLLING CULT.. I think it's too much.
Somehow i 'woke up' and left as well... let me tell you , all those other 'issues' we thought were so important arent. Being away from the witnesses is the best thing you can do, it changes everything.. and suddenly there are a million options out there for you!
I wish you the best, maybe he can see the light. There are plenty of people on the site who have gotten their spouses out, i'm sure they'll share.
